Little Grove Home Builders

Why families building in Little Grove choose Rural Building Co.:

At Little Grove, the slope comes before everything else. Blocks fall away toward sheltered harbour water on two sides or sit tight against the bush edge, and both change your siteworks, the levelling and access work done before a build starts. We understand ground like this, and we have been building on it across regional Western Australia since 1992, from Kalbarri to Albany. The Rural Building Co. is an award-winning WA builder, proudly built by WA Country Builders (BC11422), and we design for people who value craftsmanship and a real connection to the land.

Hear their stories

For Troy, building a home was never just about creating a place to live. It was about designing a lifestyle that felt deeply connected to the landscape around it.

Surrounded by birds, towering trees and water, he envisioned a home where nature was always part of the experience. Having built before, Troy chose Rural Building Co once again to bring that vision to life. Working closely with New Home Consultant Brooke Leber, every detail was carefully considered, from the exposed timber beams and heated polished concrete floors to the feature fireplace, creating a home that feels warm, timeless and connected to its surroundings.

Recognised with the 2026 HIA Project Home of the Year award, this home reflects thoughtful design, sustainable living, and a genuine connection to the environment. More than an award-winning home, it’s a peaceful retreat where the beauty of the outdoors is woven into everyday life.

When they built their new home in Pemberton, Arthur and Melissa aspired to a home that aligned with how they relax, how they entertain, and how they enjoy each other’s company.

The couple are delighted the with the end result, and are grateful to The Rural Building Co. for bringing their dream to reality.

“They were friendly, kind and very supportive. I couldn’t ask for more,” Arthur says. “Would we do it again? Without a doubt.”

When asked what they enjoy about their new home, Arthur and Melissa explain that it’s a peaceful retreat in an idyllic part of the world.

“We wanted our home to be a place of tranquility,” Melissa says.

“We still wake up every morning and say this is fantastic,” Arthur adds. “You come to an environment like this, and you recognise that there’s so much more to life.”

Seeking a lifestyle immersed in nature, Darren and Michelle chose Parkerville, where they embraced a tree change that transformed their everyday.

Their vision for a life immersed in nature came alive with double balconies that seamlessly extend their living space into the treetops. Darren shared how effortless this dream became, thanks to an immediate connection with their designer. Their home is more than just a house; it’s a sanctuary bathed in natural light and wonderfully energy-efficient, yet it’s the surrounding embrace of nature—the land and its wild inhabitants—that truly defines their lifestyle.

This was paramount for them, and they tell us they absolutely love every moment of their new, nature-infused life.

Why Build In Little Grove

Little Grove sits on a peninsula on the far side of Princess Royal Harbour, with the water to its north and west. The harbour is an almost landlocked arm of King George Sound, eight kilometres long and four wide, and it averages just over three metres deep. That means calm water rather than surf, and most of the suburb looks out across it to Albany and the port.

Blocks range from townsite lots to larger treed and sloping ground, with the harbour-view lots on the northern and western sides. Slope and orientation both matter here, and so does bushfire. Much of the City of Albany is mapped as a bushfire prone area, and that mapping sets the construction standard a new home has to meet. Check where your block sits before you fall in love with a floor plan, because it shapes the design.

Day to day, Little Grove has its own primary school, which opened in 1997, and Albany is about a quarter of an hour around the harbour on Frenchman Bay Road. Our Albany page names Little Grove as one of the areas we build in.

Our nearest team works out of the Albany office, about a quarter of an hour around the harbour from Little Grove. That closeness matters on a peninsula block, because we can be on site to look at it with you rather than working from a plan and a photo. Come and say hello.

If you would like to see our designs in person, the two displays open now are The Yalyalup Retreat, at 83 Joseph Drive, Yalyalup near Busselton, and The Darlington, at 81 Darlington Road in the Perth Hills. Both are a drive from the Great Southern, so plan your visit around a trip north rather than a Saturday morning.

Each display shows how our designs handle site orientation, natural textures and the connection between inside and out. Seeing one in person helps you picture how a Rural Building Co. home would sit on your block at Little Grove.

Frequently Asked Questions about Building in Little Grove

Can you build on a sloping or harbour-view block in Little Grove?

Yes. Many blocks at Little Grove slope down toward Princess Royal Harbour, and others back onto bush on the eastern side. We design for both. We look at the slope, the orientation and where the water sits before we draw anything, so the home works with the block rather than against it. Slope also shapes your siteworks, the work to prepare the block before the build starts, so it is worth understanding early. If your block is mapped as bushfire prone, an assessment by an accredited assessor sets the construction standard the home has to meet. We start with a full site assessment and give you a detailed, transparent quote with no hidden costs before you commit.
