Choosing the right finishes for your design

Interior design is central to making your home feel like it’s truly yours, whether you’re building a rustic farmhouse retreat or leaning into a more modern look. Tapware is often considered a smaller design choice, but it can be just as important as tiles or benchtops. In fact, the finish of your tapware can influence the tone, texture and personality of your space.

We’ve partnered with Alder Tapware and their breathtaking EEVA2 Collection in three of our different display homes.

How tapware finishes fit in your space

Choosing the right tapware for your home involves more than just colour. The texture and reflectivity of the tapware finish can alter the way a space feels. For example, matte or brushed finishes can soften or warm a space, while reflective or polished finishes can make things feel glamorous, clean and classic. Dark finishes and muted tones add a contrasting, sophisticated look. In a more practical sense, brushed or matte finishes hide fingerprints and water spots better, making them a popular choice for busy family homes.

It’s important to match tapware finishes to other design elements in your home for a cohesive interior. Compare your tapware against benchtops, cabinetry hardware, and even lighting choices to see how the finish complements the overall design. Making this choice early in the planning process will ensure you carry the same tone and feel through your kitchen, bathrooms, laundry and even outdoor spaces.

A look at EEVA2

The EEVA2 Collection from Vito Bertoni by Alder is inspired by modern interiors, where contrast, texture and tone work in harmony. The finishes of EEVA2 bring depth and balance, from timeless chrome and matte black to brushed nickel, brass and bold dual-finish combinations.

The collection is designed to meet the evolving expectations of modern living. That’s why we’ve chosen to feature the EEVA2 Collection in three of our latest home designs.

The Darlington

A modern take on the traditional Australian farmhouse, The Darlington centres around relaxed, freeform living spaces. The design features bright, ambient light, calming colours and high ceilings. We chose the EEVA2 with its angular shape to add structure, while the brushed nickel finish softens the space and adds a sense of charm. This finish is a deliberate design choice, providing contrast against stone surfaces and warm timbers to harmonise the space.

The Gelorup Retreat

Blending rustic charm with a sleek, modern design, The Gelorup makes excellent use of the EEVA2 matte black range. The finish adds an architectural edge, balancing the warmth of the timber cabinetry and soft neutral tones. The matte black acts as a contrast against the lighter elements of the space, complementing the other black accents seen in the lighting and window frames.

The Daintree

The Daintree also features matte black EEVA2 tapware. The finish is a unifying design element that brings cohesion to the space. It ties in effortlessly with the dark architectural details like doorframes, while offering a bold contrast to the lighter wall tones. The matte finish also enhances the natural textures and materials often found in rural homes, adding a refined, modern edge to the rustic charm.
