Middleton Beach Home Builders

Why Middleton Beach owners choose Rural Building Co. for a rebuild on the Sound:

Almost every new home at Middleton Beach starts with the old one coming down, and we understand what that involves. The blocks here are long established, and the outlook is east over King George Sound, so where the house sits matters as much as the plan you choose. The Rural Building Co. is an award-winning WA builder, proudly built by WA Country Builders (BC11422), and has built homes across regional Western Australia since 1992. We design for people who care about craftsmanship and a lasting connection to the land.

Hear their stories

For Troy, building a home was never just about creating a place to live. It was about designing a lifestyle that felt deeply connected to the landscape around it.

Surrounded by birds, towering trees and water, he envisioned a home where nature was always part of the experience. Having built before, Troy chose Rural Building Co once again to bring that vision to life. Working closely with New Home Consultant Brooke Leber, every detail was carefully considered, from the exposed timber beams and heated polished concrete floors to the feature fireplace, creating a home that feels warm, timeless and connected to its surroundings.

Recognised with the 2026 HIA Project Home of the Year award, this home reflects thoughtful design, sustainable living, and a genuine connection to the environment. More than an award-winning home, it’s a peaceful retreat where the beauty of the outdoors is woven into everyday life.

When they built their new home in Pemberton, Arthur and Melissa aspired to a home that aligned with how they relax, how they entertain, and how they enjoy each other’s company.

The couple are delighted the with the end result, and are grateful to The Rural Building Co. for bringing their dream to reality.

“They were friendly, kind and very supportive. I couldn’t ask for more,” Arthur says. “Would we do it again? Without a doubt.”

When asked what they enjoy about their new home, Arthur and Melissa explain that it’s a peaceful retreat in an idyllic part of the world.

“We wanted our home to be a place of tranquility,” Melissa says.

“We still wake up every morning and say this is fantastic,” Arthur adds. “You come to an environment like this, and you recognise that there’s so much more to life.”

Seeking a lifestyle immersed in nature, Darren and Michelle chose Parkerville, where they embraced a tree change that transformed their everyday.

Their vision for a life immersed in nature came alive with double balconies that seamlessly extend their living space into the treetops. Darren shared how effortless this dream became, thanks to an immediate connection with their designer. Their home is more than just a house; it’s a sanctuary bathed in natural light and wonderfully energy-efficient, yet it’s the surrounding embrace of nature—the land and its wild inhabitants—that truly defines their lifestyle.

This was paramount for them, and they tell us they absolutely love every moment of their new, nature-infused life.

Why Build In Middleton Beach

Middleton Beach fronts King George Sound six minutes from the Albany city centre, with Ellen Cove at its southern end and a swimming area behind a shark barrier finished in 2016. The Noongar name is Binalup, the place of first light, because the sun comes up over the water here. The suburb was named after Captain Middleton in 1834 and gazetted in 1979.

With 759 residents on a shoreline hemmed in by the golf course to the north and Albany Heritage Park to the west and south, Middleton Beach is effectively built out, so almost every new home here replaces an older one on an established block. Sites are often elevated or sloping, which changes your siteworks, the work to prepare the block before the build starts.

Ellen Cove Jetty was finished in 1901 and heritage-listed in 2000, along with the Norfolk Island pines on the shore. We understand a rebuild here is seen from the beach path as well as the street, so the way the home looks from both matters as much as the plan.

Your block already has the outlook, and our job is the home that sits in front of it. Our Albany team is six minutes away and can walk the site with you before a plan is drawn. The design that follows is shaped around your block.

Display Homes near Middleton Beach

Two of our display homes are open, both a drive north of Albany. The Yalyalup Retreat, at 83 Joseph Drive, Yalyalup, shows how we work with natural textures, considered detailing and the flow between inside and out. The Darlington, at 81 Darlington Road, Darlington, takes the same approach at farmhouse scale.

Both displays show how our designs deal with orientation, slope and local materials. If you are replacing a house at Middleton Beach, standing in one is the fastest way to work out what you want to keep and what you want to change.

Frequently Asked Questions about Building in Middleton Beach

Can you build a new home at Middleton Beach when there is so little land left?

Yes. Middleton Beach has 759 residents and is effectively built out, so most new homes here are a knockdown and rebuild, meaning the older house comes down and the new one goes up on the same block. A small number of new lots have also come through the foreshore redevelopment. Either way we work with what the site gives you, its slope, its orientation and its outlook over the Sound. Demolition and siteworks, the work to prepare the block, are quoted up front after a full site assessment, so you know the total cost before you commit.
