The Park View

This larger version of the Garden View came about after listening to our customers and was somewhat more difficult than we first thought it would be as simply adding size didn’t really give us the additional rooms we were chasing.

In the end, we used the basis of the Cape View Heritage (a Golden Key winner) and converted the home to resemble a Garden View (another Golden Key winner). This is a style that seems to nestle into its surroundings with absolute ease and appears to be at one with nature. The home’s design provides a commanding outlook from inside and its sweeping verandahs add to that real country feel.

The very large central core area with its towering bush pole provides a really unique living environment. From here, the outside world can be viewed through 180 degrees of glass, whether you’re dining, working in the kitchen or just sitting around.

The soaring bush pole is complemented by the panelled ceiling, giving a very rustic quality to the free-form living area – aptly named because it is designed to be big enough to ensure the free placement of furniture without the normal constrictions of walls. The Jetmaster 700D gas fireplace provides a central focus to the room with alcoves either side for television or home entertainment equipment.

The kitchen’s position enables access from the outside, allowing the shopping to be brought in without having to walk through the family room, as you do in a lot of homes. As with all RBC homes, the kitchen is superbly designed and appointed. The placement of the hot plate keeps the chef in direct contact with guests – just like the lifestyle programmes on TV. And not surprisingly, as celebrity chef Geoff Jantz had a hand in its configuration. We certainly made a meal of the kitchen: down draft exhaust fan, programmable Westinghouse oven with the separate grill, five burner 900 mm hot plate with wok burner, Corian bench tops and snack bar, large appliance cupboard, an abundance of draws, dishwasher space with connection points, and a Clarke under mounted stainless steel sink with a Dorf Adelphi sink mixer – nothing was overlooked. This is a kitchen without compromise.

At the rear of the home, there are two private suites: the master suite with direct access to the office and, on the other side, two bedrooms, the laundry, main bathroom and studio room. The studio and office are ‘escape’ rooms from the central core living area, where you can have a little private time if you wish. The appointments in the bathrooms and laundry are also first class. There are glass pivot doors to the shower screens, porcelain basins, a large Caroma Medina bath, Irwell Retro Taps and quality satin chrome accessories, a Stylus Minuet to the bathroom and a Fowler Tasman Deluxe to the ensuite.

The home is also very flexible. An entry can be added from what is now the rear, the studio room can convert to another bedroom, or other rooms can be added at either end. The home also will convert to the architectural look of the Capeview (we said it was flexible) or could be integrated into a Durack, not unlike the Harvest View. Depending on how large a home you want, or how much money you want to spend, we can flex both the specification and the design to give you the exact outcome you want.
