The Coastal View, an evolution of our very popular ‘View’ series of homes, quite aptly takes its name and inspiration from the striking homes of the sunshine coast, Torquay, and of course our own surfing coast. Although displayed in a suburban setting, it is most suited to the larger lot capturing coastal or inland views. Sitting on a hillside, the portico could sit up on stumps, making use of the topography to enhance the aspect. The true magic of the house emanates from the high-pitched, free form living area. This main living space unifies with the kitchen and provides a seamless extension to the external environment through the use of extensive glazing. The home has been skilfully divided into two zones, with a master suite and office at one end and the secondary bedrooms at the other. Providing even more privacy between these two zones is an internet recess, bathroom and laundry. This layout adds extra volume to the passage, which also serves as a private access point from the garage.
The home theatre location provides circulation directly off the free-form living space and could also double as a bunkroom should the residence be used as a holiday home. The kitchen design abides by our belief that the chef should be able to freely communicate with guests. The Corian bench top is partly screened by an upstand with a cleverly integrated exhaust fan. We have proudly chosen to use an Australian-made five-burner hotplate and automatic wall oven.
As one would expect from The Rural Building Company, every appointment is first class. Twin abovecounter bowls stylishly combine with pin mixer taps in the ensuite, the showers utilise modern clear-glazed screens, the bathroom boasts a large Medina inset bath and the laundry encompasses an in-built cupboard with an inset porcelain trough.
True to our philosophy of environmentally responsible building, The Coastal View is positioned true north on the block to provide maximum winter sun penetration. Glazing has been minimised on the eastern and western aspects whilst the southern positioning of the bedrooms ensure they remain cool in summer and enjoy cross ventilation from cooling south-west breezes, as does the rest of the home. In addition, the house includes a stainless steel hot water system, E Vents on the roof and achieves the highest star rating in plumbing, fixtures and fittings.
The Coastal View is another proud addition to our already extensive range of homes and is available in a number of options, allowing for alternatives in size and investment.
