The Meadow View Cottage is the city solution of the very popular original Meadow View that has been skillfully reworked to suit a typical suburban block and still retain the charm and character of the original design.
In typical ‘country style’, the Meadow View Cottage makes you feel at home the moment you enter. It also makes you immediately aware of its obvious break from tradition.
At the front of the home, beneath the corrugated roof, you’ll notice there are no gutters. Bush poles support a wide, shady verandah and an optional timber decking runs the fulllength. As you step through the double fully glazed entry doors of the Meadow View Cottage
you’ll find no family room, no formal dining room or separate lounge.
Instead, the Meadow View Cottage features a huge, open plan area dominated by a full length glass wall and high, vaulted barn ceiling.
This is a spectacular room that can be furnished in any way you desire - formally, informal, or a combination of the two.
The modern galley-style kitchen, which is located to the rear left of this expansive open area, boasts an abundance of shelf and bench space and its layout makes food preparation a delight as you take in the panoramic views. There’s also a big storage pantry, wine rack and
the appliances are all stainless steel.
Beyond this open and versatile area is the spacious master bedroom with generous walk in robe and ensuite. There is an activity room and three double size bedrooms including the guest room that has a walk in robe and is conveniently located to the second bathroom. There is a second separate WC, large utility room and double door linen cupboard.
The home has been designed to be built in framed construction, on stumps or poles, reverse brick veneer or conventional double clay brick. Its shape allows it to run with the contours of a hill, minimising site costs.
The Meadow View Cottage is quite different from anything you’ve seen.Another good example that the Rural Building Company really does take an alternative approach to home design. |
