The Knoll Beach House

If you’ve been to The Knoll at Yanchep's Capricorn Estate, you'll know that no matter what the design, the home was always going to be unbelievable. With 270 degree panoramic views of the beach and glimpses of The Lagoon, the client's wanted a holiday home that would take advantage of what they would be looking out at each day. The unusual shape and slope of the block also meant that we would need to do what is called an 'upside down house', where the living and kitchen areas are on the upper level with bedrooms and bathrooms below. Why would you give the bedrooms the view when you are only in them in the morning and at night when it's dark.

Definitely the logical way to approach a block with views as you want to have the room with the view the one you spend the most time in. The result is the floorplan and rendered image you see now. The slope and lie of the block meant we also had to think about the best way to build the home and minimize retaining, and take advantage of the existing retaining on the block. The end result is a home we are very proud of as it shows what can be achieved when a bit of time is spent looking at the most logical way to build the home and to take a minute and think about the best way to achieve a result.
